We are requesting LUMS to accomodate top ten teams. Thus far they have confirmed only five teams. I would like to stress that due to shortage of funds IBA will not make any Payment for travel expenses.
However if sufficient funds are generated through sponsorship a FAIR formula can be arrived at to reimburse part of Air Fare. IBA is committed to pay to LUMS Rs. 5000/participant and Rs 1500/Team.
Any other expenditure has to be borne by the student themselves.
For getting any reimbursement from IBA parial or complete students should keep original tickets and boarding pass intact.
students should remain in touch with blog and samar and insia and immediately provide their CNIC No, Mobile and Email addresses to them.

so we have to pay 15,000 rupees just to participate in an event we got selected for after days of hardwork? and the only reason most of us participated was because we thought we had a fair chance cause 10 teams were being selected… now we find out there are only 5 teams going. i think if we do the math even the top 5’s are in a losing situation! and dont tell me IBA doesnt have the funds…we pay 80,000 a semester for a crappy campus, smelly toilets and pathetic teachers…so where is the money going??…. this was a waste of time!

@ outraged.. i understand totally the anger u feel right now. but trust me we feel the same. you know how things work in IBA. nothing has changed. it has been EXTREMELY hard for us as well guys. u need to understand. we have fought A LOT for u guys but at the end of the day IBA is IBA. we cant help it much. we were also promised and assured that it will be ten teams and it ll be sponsored. but this is how things always work in iba.
See, first of all LUMS has space for 5 so we cant help it at all. so rank wise we sending in top five. but i have been fone with lums constantly trying to get space for other 5 . we r trying guys. lets see.
Second, u dont hv to pay 15,000. iba is paying for ur registration which is 5300 per person. everyone has to pay for their air ticket. and we r getting the tickets for 10 200 if we buy in bulk. so thts the expense u ll hv to pay right now. see we do hv some funds but as soon as number of teams finalize we ll know if we can pay for tickets too or not. we might end up paying partially for tickets too if possible. TRUST me we are trying!!
I apologize for all of this. but trust me, we are doing EVERYTHING we can! but when it comes to administration of IBA, we al get helpless. please try to understand.

go to ishrat hussains office toms. tell him how you feel about it. I am sure he can give you a valid reason where all your money goes. read the strategic document. it does give you a hint of how the budget is allocated and spent.

Actually it’s not the student making thses decisions. Its the patron and the Dean. So i think its better to talk to him rather then the society heads who have a burden of responsibilities but for some reason IBA just cant trust them with authority. so theres no point being pissed at the society or its heads who have been working SO HARD to get us into the competition.

i think you were supposed to pay more than 15000 initially. so paying for the competition comes from the expenses incurred by lums to hold the competitoin.

hey guys…lets not be ungrateful…..whoever’s criticising…r u new to IBA? havent u spent years goin thru this all….yes..its a bummer…of the highest degree and the lowest order….i came 6th..imagine…but then wat cud these ppl do..sure i understand that getting funds at teh last moment or reducin the number of teams doesnt rub shoulders with gettin a bake sale or movie show cancelled a day b4…but then wat cud be the possible alternative…none…it sucks big time…n i know the manager n her team feel teh same way…she’s probably more frustrated than we all are… she says she’s trying…lets either got to mr ishrat hussain tom or u take charge of a society the next time n see how things go..

yeah guys, we have done what we can and we are STILL trying. but its not easy for us to hear from the admin tht we r crossing r limits .

Great work managers!
During my first three years at IBA, and my last years experience as the GS, I never ever thought that IBA would even partially fund a group going to lahore (or even participate in such an event for that matter)!
U guys have made a major positive change in the system!
I know many people (including ME) have been dissapointed by the extremely unprofessional change in rules (From 1st round n ten teams to 2nd round n 5 teams) that IBA made and severe mismanagement of having FIVE slots booked at LUMS and promising TEN slots to the IBA students! And to top it all, not being able to finance teams completely!
But I would suggest to the dissapointed students to write an email to the Director and the Patron and lodge their protest through a proper channel!
And at the same time appreciate the great amount of effort put in by the managers and how they tried to persuade the IBA admin to mend their way!

If it weren’t for miscommunications from your officials, I would have been elated at having all the top 10 teams come to YLES.
I think the IBA Entrepreneurship Society did all what they could… All of you should give them due credit, particularly Insia who was in constant touch with me.
I sincerely wish the top 5 all the luck when they come here…. =)
