Profile of Entrepreneurship Speaker

IRFAN MUSTAFA

VP & MD – Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan & Turkey – Yum! Restaurants International & Chief Leadership Development Officer – Yum! Brands Inc.

Presently Managing Director for the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan and Turkey region for Yum! Restaurants International, parent company of KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, A&W and Long John Silvers.  Also the Chief Leadership Development Officer of Yum! Reporting to the Chairman & CEO, YUM Brands!

The region comprises 14 countries with a network of 1000 restaurants and US$ 1 Billion turnover.

Previous assignments include 6 years with PepsiCo and 14 years with UniLever in Marketing and General Management in Pakistan, West Asia, Egypt and U.S.A.  Key positions held – VP, Strategic Planning, PepsiCo, New York; Area VP & CEO PepsiCo, West Asia, Lahore, Pakistan; and General Manager, Home and Personal Care Businesses and Member of the Managing Committee UniLever, Pakistan.

Holds two post graduate degrees in Business Administration – one from IMD (Lausanne, Switzerland) and second from IBA Karachi.

He and his wife Yasmin have one daughter and two sons and reside in Dubai, U.A.E.

For several years has been actively involved in social and community based projects that focus on development of youth, education and poverty alleviation.

Has also extensively lectured as a guest speaker in an outside Pakistan specially the following institutions on Leadership, Marketing and General Management issues –

B)      Jointly running a 1 week leadership program together with the President of the company twice a year for selected high potential executives.

Entrepreneurship Seminar

Just a recap:  Attendance is mandatory at today’s seminar for all classes taking Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Management.

ATTENDANCE IS ALSO MANDATORY FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP SOCIETY.

Be there at 2:45 Sharp, attendance shall be taken periodically during the seminar.

Guys, please don’t take construtive events as a burden. The students in charge and the IBA administration goes through a lot of trouble to organize these. Please at least give the prestigious speaker coming today a fair hearing. It may be of help as you set out to establish your careers.

Don’t you remember the Nadeem Chauhan seminar? Wasn’t it motivational – 2 hours well spent?

I can’t promise that this one will be as interesting. My only plea is that at least give this speaker one chance.

alright guys,

Although for now u have to pay for ur ticket we are trying to get a discount. it will cost us Rs. 10 200 to 10 500 approximately.

But we need to book and pay for the tickets. So, the top five teams, BY MONDAY, whoever wants the Discount tickets has to submit us the money for their team. I will put up the confirm amount by Tomorrow. Bring the money by monday coz otherwise we cant register for u. and ull hv to buy ticket on ur own which will be expensive. also if IBA reimburses later u wont be paid in excess of the amount IBA got the discounted tickets for.

we are trying to talk to lums for other 5 teams so it ll apply to u as well if INSHALLAH we succeed.

LUMS is currently giving us space for top five teams. However, we are in the process of negotiations and will try to send as many of the top ten teams as we can.

IBA will pay the registrations for each team. We are trying to arrange funds and we might sponsor fully or partial the air fare too. however, we do not guarantee that.

FOr tickets , we are getting a bulk discount so contact us asap with funds and we will arrange.

We are requesting LUMS to accomodate top ten  teams. Thus far they have confirmed only five teams.  I would like to stress that due to shortage of funds IBA will not make any Payment for travel expenses. 

However if sufficient funds are generated through sponsorship a FAIR formula can be arrived at to reimburse part of Air Fare.  IBA is committed to pay to LUMS Rs. 5000/participant and Rs 1500/Team. 

Any other expenditure has to be borne by the student themselves.

For getting any reimbursement from IBA parial or complete students should keep original tickets and boarding pass intact.

Details of the Business Plan to be submitted by Shortlisted Teams

See blog for names of shortlisted groups on Thursday, 22nd January after 1600 hours.

Short listed groups will be required to submit 4 copies of revised team profile and updated plan by 1300 hours on Monday, January 26, 2009 to MARIUM AHMED at Main Campus and to SAMAR IRSHAD / INSIA ALI at City Campus as per minimum requirements given below:

§  Length of plan not to exceed 12 pages typed under appropriate headings in double space, font size 12 with margins recommended in formal business reports. Appendix excluded but figures in Appendix should be readable with a normal eye sight.

§   There shall be 10 minutes power point presentation followed by RIGOROUS QUESITON ANSWER SESSION FROM JUDGES on a date that shall be subsequently announced.

§   Plan should show evidence of:

1.  Due diligence exercised in preparation of plan

2. Team Strength in Presentation skills, Case Analysis (Problem Solving Skills) and creative advertising skills

3.  Level of planning for further refinement under guidance of a specialist mentor/venture capitalist
